Excel Map Reflection

Since this was one of my first times using excel, I learned alot about the program and WA history. I think I did good on explaining why the info was an important part in Washingtons History. I also think I did good on the organizaion and style part of the assignment. But, I could’ve done better on making it show what comment belongs to each chapter. In terms of the actual assignment I think we should’ve gone to the lab more often? I barely finished in time. Other then that the program was good and I liked how the project summed up everything we’ve been doing. Finally, I learned that Washington had a LOT more going on then I thought it had done. I learned about Indians, white people invading, the Gold Rush, the Worlds Fair, different Mountains and so much more.

Chapter 3 WA-Post

In chapter 3 the thingsthat I’ll remember most are the similarities and differences in the Coastal and Plateau Indians . I learned that both tribes had a chief and a shaman(who was their spiritual leader and healer), but they also had differences like the food they ate and Potlatches vs. powwows.  This was an important part of our state’s history because they were the main Indians for Washington State.

Crusades Project Reflection

I think I did ok on my wiki page. I had a bit of trouble finding info about Christians in the Crusades… I think we should’ve been able to use our books for help! Other then that it wasn’t that bad. I think I used a bigger vocab and I actualy sounded smart (minus the 50,000 gramatical errors…)!! I think I could improve my sentence lengths and maybe make it sound more intresting. If we could do it all over again I’d branch out and look at a lot of sites ,I only looked at about 4-5 sites because I felt a little rushed time-wise. I had a whole bunch of fun using Diigo, I thought it was realy handy and if we do more wikis I’d like to use that again! Using the actual wiki is sort of so-so to me… I wish it had spell check or something (I really needed it).

All in all it wasn’t the worst assignment but it wasn’t the best either. Going to the computer lab is mroe fun then writing it out on paper though!!

Islam Poster Reflection

I know a lot of people had a whole bunch of trouble using dabbleboard but me and my partner (Sam H.) got it done on about the second day. It was easy because we figured out how to work it pretty quickly and it was sorta fun to use. We did have some trouble sharing the link but we fixed it pretty quickly.

I also learned a bit about the Islam Faith. Using Dabbleboard was a nice way to summarize things up so I can think back to that when I’m doing my quiz. I learned that each of the 5 Pillars represents a different thing. Its also kinda cool to learn about a different culture/religion for a change. I learned all about Muhammad and how he spread the thing that he believed and now like 1/3 of the world practices it!!

Um… I’m really horrible at writing similies so heres the best I have:

Islamic religion is like a spider web, always growing and changing getting bigger and bigger by the minute.

Muhammad Book~

I think I did really well on my book. I learned alot more about Muhammad then I thought Id ever learn.  Plus I’m going to remember this stuff for awihle… not just take the quiz and then totaly forget about it! Also I had so much fun looking up other words in Arabic (Kaitryn isn’t a word in Arabic thank you very much). I was also really happy when I got the weekend to do it too… I was able to make it look much more neat and pretty. All in all, I learned alot and I made a wicked book.

10 Tips For Living In The Arabian Peninsula

If you walked into the Arabian Peninsula with only what you’re wearing right now well… there’s no way you could survive. Here’s 10 tips on how to survive the Arabian Peninsula and the different regions on it. In the desert here’s what you should do. First things first, get a camel. They can carry your stuff, provide food, and you can trade their fur for other items. Secondly, you should get a turban; it keeps the wind and sands of the desert off of your face. If you were in an oasis here’s some things you should do. Find a good spring of water and start making an irrigation system to a bed of crops. Also a good idea is to bring items to trade because usually there’s a trading center near an oasis. If you were going to live on the Costal Plains here’s some tips; be prepared for rainy and wet weather. Also the main trading happens here so a great idea would be to become a merchant/trader so you can make a lot of money. If you were to live on the Mountains you should do this: find a good nice hill and start to make some terraces. Terraces are great because you can grow crops on them plus prevent water from going off the edge. Also, mountain people store water in things like tree trunks, leather bags, and other items.

Letter to Parents

Dear Mom and Dad,

This trimester was really fun and I learned a lot. In Social Studies I learned all about Medieval Europe, the fall of Rome, the Black Death, serfs, lords, monarchs and a whole bunch more! In Language Arts I learned about organizing my writing, taking notes, Latin, and I learned a TON about how to write yellows for a paragraph. In Science we learned about the Grand Canyon, rock types, taking notes, fossils, and on how to observe something. In Math we learned about fractions, math vocab, algebraic expressions, division, decimals, and so much more. Like I said, first trimester has been fun and I love going to SMS.

Love,

Kaitryn

The Church Poem~

1. I think I did good on my presentatin of the poem because it looked very colorful, bright, and organized!!

2. I think Id make it make a little more sesne or make it ryhme better because my poem doesnt make 100% sense.

3. If this counts- going into the library because I got to learn alot about the church and it was a fun way to do it.

4. I’d like Mr.T to kno that I planned alot on how I wanted my poem to look and I spent alot of time working on it. ~

The most important thing I learned this week was that the feudal system in Medieval Europe is alot different then I thought it was. I never realized that knights had to pay for their horses, armor, and just about everything else!! Heck, I didnt even know what a serf was!!
